Firefly Folding Camp Chair

This chair was designed as a concept for an outdoor goods company. It incorporates the lightweight build of some aluminum frame camp chairs that break down completely, with the simple folding action of a standard steel frame folding outdoor chair. The design is built around an iconic stop-ring mechanism, which limits the expansion of the legs. In a traditional folding chair, this stop force would come from the tension of the fabric, but by mixing chair styles, the Firefly chair can fold while standing up with this unique mechanism.
While this stop ring is the iconic centerpiece of this design, the ring serves a function, by decreasing the amount of torque force upon the rotation joint.
